Update

The HealthSMART Clinical System recently achieved another major milestone with the implementation of Release 2b of the Clinical System at Austin Health and Peninsula Health. Go-live took place as scheduled on 15 June 2011. The addition of Austin Health and Peninsula Health brings the number of production sites to four and increases the regular daily users of the Clinical System to more than 1,200.

The Clinical System is in use across the inpatient areas of all Austin Health and at the Rosebud Hospital location of Peninsula Health. Roll-out to Austin outpatient areas is to commence in late July. Preparations are currently underway for system deployment at Frankston Hospital in September 2011, followed by all remaining Peninsula Health facilities.

The Release 2b build of the Clinical System combines all the functionality currently in operation at Eastern Health and Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, with significant additional capability of electronic ordering of Pathology and Imaging services plus associated decision support.

The remaining component of the Clinical System to be delivered is inpatient medications ordering accompanied by electronic recording of medications administration. Workshops to review the functional design, complex medications components and workflow impacts are to commence July 2011. Implementation is targeted for mid 2012 at Austin Health and Peninsula Health.
