Registration fee exemptions

Which types of organisations are exempt from paying registration fees?

Exemptions from registration fees are available for vehicles used for specific purposes.  Examples applicable to community service organisations include:

  • Vehicles used to convey disabled or handicapped people for training, education or employment, registered to a corporate or unincorporated body established for a public purpose and not used for private gain.
  • Vehicles used by charitable, benevolent or religious institutions for the business of the institution, marked with the institution’s name and not used for carrying passengers or loads for hire or reward.

For more information about fees and other exemptions, refer to:

If my organisation is eligible, how can I access registration fee exemptions?

To access registration fee exemptions, contact VicRoads to check which documentation you need to provide. VicRoads will then add your organisation to the list of organisations eligible to receive exemptions and will also update the records for each of your vehicles.
