Social housing is housing that is owned and run by the government, housing agencies or not-for-profit organisations.
It is made up of two types of housing - public housing and community housing - and is for people on low incomes that are most in need, especially those who have recently experienced homelessness, family violence or have other special needs.
The Victorian Housing Register is the way applications for social housing are managed in Victoria. It brings together all the public and community housing requests for housing so that people only need to apply once.
The register consists of two categories:
- Priority List
- Register of Interest
Organisations can complete applications on behalf of clients via the department's eBusiness portal.
Visit the Victorian Housing Register online application for organisations on the Funded Agency Channel.
