Homelessness
As the demand for affordable housing increases in Victoria, the not-for-profit sector will play an important role in preventing and reducing homelessness.
Standards and guidelines
Standards and guidelines are designed to assist funded agencies to deliver services and manage business in accordance with program objectives and funding conditions.
As from 1 July 2012 the Homelessness Assistance Service Standards were replaced by the Department of Human Services Standards.
Accreditation
Organisations that provide homelessness assistance, family violence assistance and other case-managed support services that are funded by the Department of Human Services - Housing must be accredited.
Training
The Victorian Government provides training and development to organisations to ensure they have the skills to deliver the most efficient and effective service for people in need.
Housing Establishment Fund
The Housing Establishment Fund (HEF) is available to THM agencies and SAAP agencies to assist eligible clients to access overnight accommodation or private rental accommodation.
- Homelessness Support Services Accreditation
As from 1 July 2012 the Homelessness Assistance Service Standards were replaced by the Department of Human Services Standards. All funded organisation in scope will need to transition to the new standards.

New public housing application and assessment processes under the Homeless with support segment.
- External Party Register Identification Number (EPRIN)
If you are a homelessness funded agency please check the XL spreadsheet list as you may already have an EPRIN. Other funded agencies (including homelessness services whose EPRIN is not on the list) need to complete the EPRIN application form and forward to Policyhotline@dhs.vic.gov.au
