Implementing the quality framework
The Quality Framework promotes a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the disability sector. Effective implementation of the Quality Framework will assist service providers to support people with a disability to achieve outcomes valued in the Broader Victorian community.

The Quality Framework is an initiative within the broader industry development plan. The Quality Framework Working Group has been established to advise in strategy for implementation and future directions.
Standards and evidence indicators
The evidence indicators assist organisations to assess whether practice meets the Standards and identify areas for improvements.
Find out more about the Standards for Disability Services in Victoria, which consists of both Industry Standards and Outcome Standards. Together these set out the expectations of better practice for the delivery of services and supports to people with a disability.

Consumer assessment
Consumer assessment enables people with a disability, their family members and carers to provide feedback about the quality of services and supports.

Organisational self-assessment
Organisational self-assessment can be used to drive both quality assurance and continuous quality improvement. Service providers are encouraged to select an approach that best reflects their service type and consumer requirements.
Quality plan
A quality plan uses information gathered from the organisational self-assessment, consumer assessment and any other quality review processes. It ties it together and sets the priorities and actions for improvements for the forthcoming continuous quality improvement cycle. It sets out necessary strategies or actions to improve quality improvement activities.

Timeframes for implementing the Quality Framework
Statewide application of independent monitoring has commenced. All disability service providers are required to undergo a certification audit by June 2012 and must be certified as compliant by December 2012.

Up to date information about implementing the Quality Framework is provided for disability service providers in a series of fact sheets and bulletins.
Fact sheets are available. The fact sheets provide information about various aspects of independent monitoring to assist you in preparing for, and undergoing an audit.
Implementation bulletins are available. The bulletins are designed to broaden your knowledge in areas such as auditing, reporting, learning and development and independent monitoring.
