Aids and equipment

The Victorian Aids and Equipment Program (A&EP) provides people with a permanent or long term disability with subsidised aids, equipment, home, and vehicle modifications. The program aims to enhance the independence of people with a disability in their own home, facilitate their participation in the community and support families and carers.

Individuals require an assessment of their needs to determine the most suitable aid or equipment that will assist them to maintain or enhance their independence. This assessment needs to be undertaken by either an allied health professional or a medical practitioner (also known as a prescriber) depending on the type of aid or equipment being applied for. For more detailed information please see eligibility and applications steps.
