Research, monitoring and evaluation

Research and coordinating committee

The department is frequently approached by researchers for assistance and approval to conduct research. The Research Coordinating Committee was established in 2006 to deal with matters relating to research involving:

  • Victorian children, young people and their families
  • Staff members of the department and its services
  • Unpublished information or data
  • Services delivered or funded by the department

The committee considers applications for research that includes Victorian children, young people and their families who are involved with the department. If you are unsure if your research involves these clients, the respective Secretariat can provide advice.

Researchers can make applications for research access to: Victorian children, young people and their families who are clients of the department or services funded by the department.

The committee considers applications in terms of the implications and benefits of the research to clients and the impact of supporting the research on departmental resources.
