Child Protection Week 2012

Child Protection Week – play your part to keep children safe

Child Protection Week is an annual event promoting the belief that it is everyone's responsibility to keep children safe – physically and emotionally. Child Protection Week is coordinated nationally by the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) and, in Victoria, by the Department of Human Services. Child Protection Week 2012 will be held from 2-8 September.

Robin Clark Memorial Awards 2012 – nominations opening soon

Child Protection Week 2012 will be officially launched in Victoria at the Robin Clark Memorial Awards. Now in its 11th year, the awards are dedicated to the memory of Robin Dennis Clark (1936 –2001), a widely respected, inspirational leader in the field of child, youth and family services. The awards aim to recognise and encourage exceptional work that improves the lives of vulnerable Victorians.

Protecting Children Awards – selections now open

During Child Protection Week 2012 the Department of Human Services will also hold the 8th Protecting Children Awards, which recognise and promote best practice, commitment and leadership in the Victorian child protection program. These awards are aimed exclusively at departmental child protection practitioners and all interested staff can find out more on the department’s intranet site. Nominations are coordinated by child protection managers in each region and close on Monday 16 July 2012.

Further information about the Awards can be found on the Protecting Children Awards website (intranet users only).
