Registration standards for community service organisations
Registration
One of the significant reforms of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (CYFA) is the promotion of high quality services through the registration of Community Service Organisations (CSOs) and the development of performance standards for family and out of home care services.
As part of registration, CSOs undertake internal reviews of their performance in relation to the registration standards. An external review will be undertaken as part of their tri-annual re-registration. In combination these reviews aim to improve services and promote children's rights to safety, stability and healthy development.
This site provides the register of community service organisations, the registration standards for CSOs and other useful documents for registered CSOs.
Registration Standards
The Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 provides for the Minister to determine performance (registration) standards for any matter relating to the operation of a community service.
The standards have been developed in consultation with the Registration Reference Group, the Placement and Support and Family Services branches of Child Protection and Family Services, regions, community service organisations (CSOs) and Aboriginal community controlled organisations.
- The registration standards replace the existing standards minimum standards for residential care and home based care
- The standards were gazetted at the commencement of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005
- An audit tool for the internal performance improvement reviews and external quality assurance audits is being developed
Please feel free to discuss the standards or the purposed audit tool with the officer in charge.
