Review guide
This instruction manual details how to upload a new Review Tool, upgrade an existing Review Tool and complete the Review Tool.
Evidence guide
A revised version of the evidence guide has been developed for registered CSOs for use in internal and external reviews in relation to the registration standards. This document is broken into each of the standards and then each of the performance criteria.
Checklists
Out-of-home care client record review
A resource to help community service organisations assess their systems for creating and maintaining individual client records in relation to Out-of-Home-Care (the paper or electronic document which all services contributing to the care of the client are recorded).
Out-of-home care checklist
Assists in confirming residential staff and carers records meet the registration standards for community service organisations. Please refer to the checklists for reference on how this tool can provide evidence of meeting specific performance criteria.
Family services client record review
The client record review tool is a resource to help community service organisations assess their systems for creating and maintaining individual client records for Family Services (the paper or electronic document on which all services contributing to the care of the client are recorded).
Family services checklist
Family Services provides a range of activities which may include the provision of outreach, assessment, case management, counseling, casework, in-home support, group work, brokerage, as well as other support and information activities.
Approach checklist
Provides a summary of the criteria that policies, processes, practice guidelines, and other documents a CSO should cover to meet the registration standards.

Registration information
This booklet provides information about registration under the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (CYFA) for CSOs which provide out of home care or family services.
Registration standards
CYFA provides for the Minister for Community Services to determine performance (registration) standards to be met by registered CSOs providing family and out of home care services.
Frequently asked questions
How does my agency become registered?
The information provided will help the Department of Human Services ensure that your CSO can be registered under the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (CYFA). Only a body corporate can be registered as a CSO.
Using the review tool
This document answers the frequently asked questions about the CSO Review Tool Version 3 (distributed February 2011). The upgraded version has incorporated much of the feedback received from CSOs and resolved ‘bugs’ identified in Version 2.
