Your privacy

The Department of Human Services is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information which we and our funded service partners handle. Personal information is information which directly or indirectly identifies a person.

In the department, the Corporate Integrity, Information and Resolutions area supports department and funded agency compliance with information privacy legislation.

The Information Privacy Act 2000 and the Health Records Act 2001 regulate the information handling of personal and health information. It includes standards for information collection, storage, access, transmission, disclosure, use and disposal.

Corporate Integrity, Information and Resolutions provides advice, training and tools to support privacy compliance and promote best practice within the department and public agencies. We are also responsible for coordinating the department's response to privacy complaints.
