Public housing support services
There are a number of services available for tenants who need support or financial assistance.
Social Housing Advocacy and Support Program
The Social Housing Advocacy and Support Program (SHASP) provides support to public housing tenants and other social housing tenants. SHASP helps tenants access a range of non-government services in their local community, so they know they will get independant help and support.
Keeping in touch - tenant contact service
The Keeping in touch service contacts public housing tenants on a weekly basis to check if they are okay. The services is offered to tenants who are aged 75 years and over and live by themselves.
Discounts and loans
There are a number of ways tenants can get financial assistance when they need to buy things like fridges, washing machines, furniture and computers. There are also concessions available for tenants who may want to participate in government funded training and further education courses.
Concessions
Tenants may also be eligible for other concessions that could help them to pay their utilities bills.

The Victorian Government has introduced a new initiative to help public housing tenants improve their quality of life through discounts for goods and services, and loans to help meet the cost of these items.
