Modifying your home
If you want to make changes to your home, such as putting in air conditioning or a satellite dish for pay TV, you must obtain approval from your local housing officer.
Usually, it will be up to you to pay for any changes you want to make and you will also need to pay any ongoing costs. When you leave, you may be charged for removing any changes youve made to your home.
If you need to make changes because you have a disability, like putting in handrails or ramps, speak to your Housing Services officer about how to get them installed. In some cases, modifications as a result of disability are free of charge.
Master satellite dish
The Master Satellite Dish System is the name for state of the art technology that enables the Department to provide multiple satellite television services to residents living in High Rises.
The system allows residents the choice of connecting to free satellite television services and/or subscribing to Pay TV.
For free to air tv residents need to have set top box to access channels which will cost around $100 to $150 or so and is one-off purchase. From then on, residents can enjoy the spectrum of global television that is provided for no cost.
Pay TV however is an extra cost in addition to the set-top box purchase. It allows residents to subscribe to Pay Television services. It is up to residents and their household budgets as to which services are chosen. To receive Pay TV services residents sign up with one of the already well-known Pay Television service providers applicable only to each specific estate.
Master Satellite Dish System services are being rolled out to 44 High Rise towers across Melbourne. The system has been launched at the following estates:
