Crisis accommodation - homelessness

Crisis and emergency short term accomodation includes a range of specialist services for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Transitional Housing Management (THM) programs assist households in housing crisis to establish or maintain appropriate, secure and sustainable housing through the provision of transitional housing services and housing information and referral.

These services are provided by a wide variety of community service organisations (CSO) across the state.

If you are experiencing or at risk of homelessness or escaping family violence and you need crisis accommodation, you can get immediate help through your nearest crisis support centre. There’s also a statewide number to call for help.

Crisis accommodation includes women’s refuges, youth refuges and major inner city crisis supported accommodation services.

You can get help to reconnect with the community and re-build your life through crisis and transitional support and a range of related support services.

These services are delivered through not-for-profit organisations.

They are part of Victoria’s integrated homelessness and housing support system which is designed as a progressive pathway out of homelessness.

You may also wish to apply for public housing.
