The transition from school to adult life presents young people with a whole new world of opportunities and challenges.

What is Futures for Young Adults?
The Futures for Young Adults (FFYA) program provides support to students with a disability who need additional assistance to make the transition to post-school options. The program is available to eligible students from when they complete school until they turn 21.
What is Transition to Employment?
The Transition to Employment (TTE) initiative was introduced as part of the FFYA program in 2009. Transition to Employment is focused on providing support to young people with a disability who want to pursue further education, training and employment but are not yet ready to move directly into employment, or receive assistance through a Commonwealth Employment Service.
Who can get assistance?
To be eligible for FFYA/TTE supports, a person must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- be a permanent resident of Victoria, aged 18 years before the 31 December in the last year of school
- have been assessed as eligible and be currently receiving support at school through the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development's Program for Students with Disabilities or equivalent in the Catholic or independent sectors.
Young people who are eligible for FFYA/TTE may be provided with:
- support from a transition planner to look at post-school options and set goals for the future
- information and assistance to access further education, training, employment and community participation options.
Safety Net
The FFYA/TTE Safety Net lets young people try different post-school options as soon as they leave school, and still be able to get advice and support at any time during the eligibility period.
