Cultural and Linguistic Diversity CALD

People with a disability and their families from culturally and linguistically diverse communities (CALD) need access to self-directed supports that are culturally safe and recognise the importance of family and community relationships.

In partnership with CALD communities and ethnic organisations, Disability Services is working to strengthen the cultural safety of disability services, to ensure people with a disability and their families from a CALD background can access the supports and services that are right for them.

Auslan Video Relay Interpreting Service

The Auslan Video Relay Interpreting (VRI) Service will improve communication for deaf and hard of hearing people in a range of health and community settings.

Multicultural Resources Directories

To support the implementation of the Disability Services Cultural and Linguistic Diversity (CALD) Strategy, a series of Multicultural Resource Directories has been developed for each Department of Human Services (DHS) Region to assist Disability Services funded support providers working in and with Victoria's multicultural communities.

Regional Population Profiles

To support the implementation of the Disability Services Cultural and Linguistic Diversity (CALD) Strategy, CALD Regional Population Profiles have been developed for each Department of Human Services (DHS) region, to assist Disability Services funded support providers to understand the diversity of their local communities.
