Bushfire Communities Support Program
The Bushfire Communities Support Program provides flexible assistance to people affected by the 2009 Victorian bushfires. The program offers a range of services that people can access when they need a hand in managing their personal recovery.
Services that are included under the Bushfire Communities Support Program include the Helpline, Bushfire Community Support Workers and Drop-in Centres. Additional funding has also been provided to complement existing services in fire-affected communties. Contact the Helpline for more information about support and services in your local area.
The Bushfire Community Support Helpline
Contact the Helpline on 1800 050 400 weekdays during business hours.
The Helpline is available Australia-wide to all people who were affected by the 2009 Victorian Bushfires. Helpline staff can provide information, advice, support and referral with issues including:
- Accommodation queries
- Financal concerns
- Personal assistance requirements
- Employment issues
- Education queries
- Accessing counselling
- Health support
- Referral to legal support
Friends and family members seeking assistance on behalf of a person who was affected by the bushfires can also contact the Helpline.
Bushfire Community Support Workers
Bushfire Community Support Workers provide locally based personal support in some communities which were affected by the bushfires. Workers provide information on available services and link people into local services, events and communty activities.
