Under the Adoption Act 1984, adopted people, birth parents, adoptive parents, eligible birth relatives and adult children of adopted people are entitled to apply for adoption information.
Former Wards of State and their relatives can apply for information about wardship in Victorian under the Freedom of Information Act 1982.
