The Fire Risk Management Unit focuses on providing safe and secure buildings for all department-owned and operated facilities in Victoria. It also ensures compliance with relevant statutory Acts, regulations and fire safety guidelines.
We provide professional and technical advice, and program maintenance on departmental properties.
Capital Development Guidelines
In August 2013 the new Capital Development Guidelines Series 7 were endorsed by the Department of Human Services, Director of Housing, Department of Health, Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board and Country Fire Authority. The guidelines provide direction to qualified professionals on subjects such as fire safety, minimum safety requirements, audits and fire risk assessments.
To work with the department as a Fire Safety Engineer, Building Surveyor or Building Inspector the department now requires accreditation. More information is available on this site:
