Transport

Transport choices impact on our health, and the health of the environment.

Motor vehicles are responsible for about half of Melbourne's air pollution in summer.

An increasing dependency on cars for travel not only has an impact on health by negatively impacting on air quality, it is also linked to an increase in obesity, reduced exercise and high car use has been found to have a negative impact on sense of community and feelings of safety.

In this section you will find information about a number of programs that are aimed at reducing car dependency, and increasing health and environmental outcomes.
