Major Incident Medical Management & Support (MIMMS)
Introduction
The two-day, Major Incident Medical Management and Support (MIMMS) Advanced Course provides an introduction to operations in a mass casualty field environment for medical, nursing and paramedic staff who may be activated as part of Victoria's major incident health and medical response.
Place preference is currently being given to staff who have nominated as a member of a Victorian Medical Assistance Team (VMAT). However, limited places are available for non-VMAT nominees. For more information on VMAT registration contact Kieran Colgan in the Emergency Management Branch.
This course is accredited by the Advanced Life Support Group.

Subjects covered include:
- Scene Command and Control
- Communications
- Triage
- Treatment and Transport
- Equipment
- Team Welfare
Presentation is by lecture, workshop, and discussion as well as tabletop exercises. The course includes basic knowledge assessment as well as practical triage and communications skills.
Who Should Attend
The course is designed for medical, nursing, allied health and ambulance personnel who are likely to be required to respond to a major incident. Preference is being given to members of VMAT. However, limited places are available for non-VMAT medical personnel.
Cost
This is a Department of Human Service sponsored course provided at no cost to hospitals or participants.
