Recovery Planning for Local Government
The aim of this half day planning session is to assist participants to enhance the skills that will allow them to successfully update, implement and review the recovery component of a Municipal Emergency Management Plan (MEMP). The session will allow participants to examine the recovery component of their MEMP, and using facilitated discussion based around a group of core recovery themes, revise their current recovery plan to ensure it suits the specific requirements of their individual municipality and meets the requirements of the State Recovery Arrangements.
Discussion of recovery concepts that are central to local government include:
- Scale of emergency events
- Impact and Needs assessment
- Recovery service delivery
- Capacity
- Activation and escalation
Please ensure that you bring along the Recovery Plan from your MEMP, as the examination of this document is a key focus of the session.
