People who readily use support from family, friends or other people are generally found to recover better in the long run. There are many options for you to talk to someone. You are encouraged to make use of your GP, clergy, or any counselling or support services known to you.
Dealing with stressful events is often helped by talking it over - prevention is better than cure.
