Evaluation of quality of life outcomes for participants - Tender T09197
There will be an evaluation of the quality of life outcomes for younger people with a disability receiving accommodation and support services through the my future my choice initiative. A selection process is underway to engage an experienced contractor or consortium to conduct the evaluation. The findings will inform future decision-making and contribute to a national evaluation. The evaluation will commence in early 2010.

A total of 22 new service developments will be established under the my future my choice initiative, providing accommodation and support for about 100 younger people living in, or at risk of entry to, residential aged care. This includes the first home for six younger people with acquired brain injury that opened in Balwyn in 2008. The remaining 21 houses and unit developments are at various stages of design and construction.
These new accommodation and support places will provide innovative housing and support to maximise the outcomes for younger people living in, or at risk of entry to, residential aged care. The new houses and units will be located across rural regions and metropolitan areas. Developments are listed in the following table:

my future my choice has developed a DVD to increase awareness of the positive impact that person-centred planning and individualised disability supports can have on improving quality of life.
The DVD tells the stories of seven younger people living, or at risk of entry to, residential aged care.
