What are the accommodation options?
The Housing options unlocked – a guide to options and assistance available for people with a disability, is a booklet that may have the information you need about accommodation options and disability supports. This booklet may also help you to find the right people to talk to about a range of other things, such as entitlements or assistance with renting.
The booklet is colour coded into sections for your convenience and includes headings such as housing options, housing providers assistance available, and advice and useful contacts. You can compare options and make better informed decisions about which options to follow up in more detail.
Alternative accommodation support projects
The Alternative Accommodation Support projects (previously Accommodation Innovation Grants) assist people with a disability to find and make a success of living in accommodation of their choice.
You may be able to be part of an Alternative Accommodation Support project in your local area.
Disability Services supports
The following supports are funded by the Department of Human Services and are provided in partnership with agencies and other funded organisations or managed by regional staff of the Department of Human Services.
Individual Support Packages provide flexible funding, after planning with you, to suit your particular needs.
Disability Housing Trust involves partnerships between not-for-profit, non-government housing providers, local government and the private sector, to provide a range of appropriate and affordable housing.
Shared Supported Accommodation provides high-quality supported housing in the community.

The Disability Accommodation and Support Framework Report reviewed national and international research to identify and describe the key elements of community-based accommodation and support that provide the best personal outcomes for people with a disability.
