Restrictive Interventions Implementation Guide
The objective of this Implementation Guide is to provide a broad overview of Part 7 of the Act and to detail the requirements for disability service providers who use or propose to use restrictive interventions. This Guide provides disability service providers and Authorised Program Officers with an understanding of their roles in relation to the use of restrictive interventions and responsibilities in protecting the rights of individuals subject to restrictive interventions.
Restrictive Interventions are defined in the Act as any intervention that is used to restrict the rights or freedom of movement of a person with a disability including (involving the use of, but not restricted to) chemical restraint, mechanical restraint or seclusion.
