Planning Resource Kit and Implementation Guide

Release date: November 2007 by Disability Services Division.

The Resource Kit and Guide aims to provide a foundation for shared practice amongst DHS and CSO staff and supplements the Disability Services Planning Policy. The Guide has been developed following consultations regarding the Planning Policy and feedback received during the Disability Act 2006 Information Sessions held in May and June 2007.

The Planning Resource Kit & Implementation Guide is divided into two parts:

  • The Resource Kit provides information, advice, tips and tools for individualised planning for people with a disability. It provides information about different approaches to planning including how to work with families, planning for people with ageing carers and different ways to generate ideas and conduct planning meetings.
  • The Implementation Guide provides detailed guidance and practice advice in relation to specific issues contained in the Planning Policy.

Regions and CSOs are encouraged to consider and use the Resource Kit & Implementation Guide over the next 6 months. Consistent with the review of the Planning Policy, the Guide will also be reviewed in early 2008.
