Access Policy Implementation Guide
Release date: October 2007 by Disability Services Division.
The Access Policy Implementation Guide aims to provide a foundation for shared practice among Department of Human Services and Community Service Organisation (CSO) staff, and supplements the Disability Services Access Policy. The Guide has been developed following consultations regarding the Access Policy and feedback received during the Disability Act 2006 Information Sessions held in May and June 2007.
The Guide is divided into two parts
- Part 1 – provides detailed guidance and practice advice in relation to specific issues contained in the Access Policy
- Part 2 – has been designed to assist disability service providers to gather information to determine if a person has a disability as defined by the Act.
Regions and CSOs are encouraged to consider and use the Guide over the next 6 months. Consistent with the review of the Access Policy, the Guide will also be reviewed in early 2008.
