Self-directed planning for people with a disability

Disability Services is working on how disability supports can be provided in so they are more flexible and individualised. This includes how people with a disability decide what they need and plan for their supports, and how they can direct this process to the maximum extent possible (self-directed planning). Disability Services Division (DSD) is finalising a framework for how self-directed planning supports will be provided. Information on the framework is provided below.

DSD has undertaken a consultation process to hear from people with a disability, their families and carers, disability service providers and other interested community members to gather their views on the framework. A series of consultation sessions were held across the state throughout June and feedback was also able to be provided through this website throughout July. Disability Services would like to thank everyone who provided feedback through the consultation sessions and the website.

The feedback provided throughout the consultation process will inform the future direction of self-directed planning for people with a disability in Victoria. The attached report by Success Works, who were engaged by Disability Services to conduct the consultation process, provides an overview and analysis of the feedback received.
