Fire Risk Management Guidelines Series 7 provide a general indication of the Department of Human Services' expectations for fire risk management in buildings owned or occupied by the department, or its funded agencies, while providing adequate levels of fire safety in a cost-effective manner by:

  • presenting a formalised fire safety risk identification and assessment methodology
  • identifying appropriate means for the department and department-funded agencies and their employees to satisfy their duty of care, the department's objectives and legal responsibilities with respect to fire safety
  • identifying the responsibilities of departmental staff with respect to fire safety
  • providing guidelines for fire safety in nominated types of facilities.
