The Statement of principles for children and young people with a disability and their families is designed to raise the profile of children and young people with a disability, to support staff who work in the field.
It is to be the basis for mainstream and specialist services to work together to provide support to families that is coordinated, timely and effective.
National Housing Conference 2009
The 6th National Housing Conference is to be held in Melbourne between 24-27 November 2009. As a sponsor, the conference provides Disability Services with the opportunity to inform participants of ongoing projects relating to housing specifically targeting the needs of people with disabilities. Disability Case Management Autism Spectrum Disorder Training
Submissions are invited for the development and delivery of an Autism Spectrum Disorder training package for disability case managers. Submissions close Friday 27 November 2009 at 4.30pm.
Quality Framework for Disability Services in Victoria (2007): Key concept illustrations
Illustrations to assist people with a disability who access services, their family members and carers to gain a greater knowledge of the Standards for Disability Services in Victoria and what they mean in practice, are available to download.
Auslan Video Relay Interpreting Service
The two organisations selected to establish and deliver the Video Relay Interpreting (VRI) service are Vantage Systems Pty Ltd (Vantage) as the technology service provider and the Victorian Deaf Society (Vicdeaf) as the Auslan interpreting service provider. The VRI service will be trialled across six DHS-nominated sites. More information about the VRI service is now available.
Disability Act 2006 - revised policies
The policies developed to support the implementation of the Disability Act 2006 have now been reviewed. The policies will be available on the Disability Act 2006 web page as they become available.
Self directed planning for people with a disability
Disability Services Division is finalising a framework for self directed planning services. A consultation process regarding the framework has been undertaken to gain feedback from people with a disability, service providers and other interested community members.
Evaluation of the implementation of the Disability Act 2006
An evaluation is underway of how implementation of the Act is progressing and to identify directions for future implementation activities.
