Restrictive Intervention and Compulsory Treatment

Restrictive interventions are practices used by disability service providers designed to prevent a person with an intellectual disability from harming themselves and others, or destroying property that may result in harm. Restrictive intervention is defined in the Bill to mean 'any intervention that is used to restrict the rights or freedom of movement of a person with a disability including chemical restraint, mechanical restraint and seclusion'.
