New Victorian Carers Reward Card

The Victorian Government will introduce a Carers Reward Card in 2010-11. Working in partnership with the community sector the card is being developed to provide a range of benefits for carers.
The card will recognise the vital role that families, friends and other carers play in supporting people with disabilities, chronic illness, mental illness, children needing foster care and the increasing numbers of frail aged needing care.
The card will also reinforce the Government's commitment to the work of carers by raising the profile of carers and improving community awareness of the contribution they make.
This discussion paper is an important step in the consultation process, providing stakeholders with an outline of the proposed path for implementation and inviting feedback. The consultation period for the Carer Reward Card closed on Friday, 19 June 2009. Stakeholder organisations or individuals may like to view other responses to Department of Human Services.
