Primary Producers Repair and Restoration Payment -
APPLICATION FOR THIS GIFT ARE NOW CLOSED

The Victorian Bushfire Appeals Advisory Panel has agreed to the provision of a Primary Producers Repair and Restoration Payment to assist primary producers who have suffered loss and damage to their properties and farming activities as a result of the 2009 bushfires.

Am I eligible?

You may be eligible for the Primary Producers Repair and Restoration Payment if you carry on a primary production business as defined by the Australian Tax Office (ATO).

Note: A primary producer is defined by the ATO as an individual, trust or company running a primary production business for activities such as cultivating plants, maintaining animals, manufacturing dairy produce, or tree felling or plantation, where the intention is to make a profit from the activity. For further information refer to ATO Taxation Ruling TR 97/11.

What assistance is available?

If you are a primary producer who has not received the Commonwealth Governments Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) Initial/Supplementary Clean Up and Restoration Grant, you can apply for a $10,000 payment.

If you have received the Initial/Supplementary Clean Up and Restoration Grant, you can apply for a $5000 payment.

If you have a lease or share farm agreement, applications can be made by both the owner and leaseholder. In this situation, it is intended that one payment is available per farming enterprise.

Is there a restriction on how the payment can be spent?

Payments can be used for activities such as fencing, re-sowing pasture or rebuilding infrastructure where they are directly related to activities or equipment that was physically damaged as a direct result of the bushfires.

What information do I need to provide?

The Government recognises the extraordinary circumstances that families are facing and will work with individuals to ensure that any necessary information can be obtained in a flexible and sensitive manner. The Government will need to reasonably establish proof of identity, proof of ownership/occupancy of the property and confirm that the property has experienced damage and destruction as a result of the 2009 bushfires.
