The Funding, Health and Information Policy Branch has three Sections which
are responsible for the development & monitoring of Statewide
funding policy and information systems.
Funding Policy Section

The Funding Policy Section is responsible for the development
and implementation of policy on all aspects of the funding formulae
for Victorian public hospitals.

The Health Information Section covers the Department’s key
hospital information databases including the Victorian Admitted
Episodes Dataset
(VAED),
the Victorian Emergency Minimum Dataset (VEMD),
the Elective Surgery Information System (ESIS),
and the Agency Information Management System (AIMS).
The Section coordinates Departmental involvement in the work of the
Statistical Information Management Committee (SIMC) and
related national health information bodies.

The Health Policy Analysis & Reporting Section has responsibility
for:
- Development of the broad framework for the policy and strategic
direction of health services including advice on long term trends
in the health services system and management of specific projects
- Integrated system wide performance reporting for multiple audiences
including the community, health services and key internal stakeholders
- Legislation review and development in the health portfolio
