Section A: Policy
6.7 Patient Satisfaction Survey
A review of the implementation process for Stage 2 of the patient satisfaction survey was undertaken by the Patient Satisfaction Survey Working Party. Key features of Stage 3 include:
- The introduction of a passive consent process.
- Expansion to 10 community languages.
- Public release of comparative benchmark data.
- Reduction in the length of the questionnaire.
- Provision of support to hospitals for the implementation of Stage 3.
Stage 3 will be conducted in all public acute hospitals and health care Networks. Hospitals will be provided with individual reports of their performance and benchmark data with same group hospitals and State averages. Comparative benchmark data for hospitals will be publicly released. In 1997-98 it is anticipated that Stage 3 will be completed and a formal evaluation of the study will be commissioned to assess processes and assist in informing future directions for the conduct of the survey.
