Section A: Policy
3.4 Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation is an area that requires special attention as the nature of its activities do not fit into the one category given to it in AN-DRGs. A number of projects have been undertaken to assess the feasibility and use of a new specific classification system and work has progressed over the past year. Refinement of the proposed model has been undertaken and will be circulated for comment in September 1997.
Rehabilitation grants will continue for 1997-98 on a similar basis as last year.
As in previous years rehabilitation units have been designated. Two units will be assessed for new designation and a change in the level of designation. Bed day payments will continue in 1997-98 at rates comparable to those established for Aged Care Services Output Group 113, with increments for Consumer Price Index (CPI) factors. This will also mean levels 2 and 3 will be combined.
