![]()
Since the introduction of casemix funding patient throughput has increased overall in terms of total separations and estimated casemix funded WIES4 as seen in table 2.
Table 2: Activity Trends, 1993-94 to 1996-97 (estimated) 1993-94 1994-95 1995-96 1996-97* Separations Total Same Day 740,766 818,946 838,051 870,000 285,546 351,910 372,618 299,000 WIES4 691,859 730,924 738,999 751,000 Same Day Medical Separations WIES4 92,043 112,311 116,590 122,000 24,841 30,220 31,853 33,500
In 1996-97 funded WIES throughput is expected to reach approximately 751,000 WIES4. A high level of growth has been achieved over the past four years. Separations have increased by 18 per cent. Most of this increase is due to same day cases. Same day cases have increased by 40 per cent. Surgical same day cases increased at a much faster rate (44 per cent) than medical same day cases (33 per cent).* Estimated activity for 1996-97 based on July 1996 to March 1997 year to date figures.
* Heidelberg Hospital was added in 1994-95 with a total of 21,444 separations.
* This Table differs from that presented in the 1996-97 Guidelines as the new grouper version 3.1 and associated coding changes have been applied to earlier years.
