2.13 DVA Patients
As announced in 1995 as part of the integration of the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital into the State's public hospital system, it is expected that the numbers of Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) patients receiving services at hospitals other than the Austin and Repatriation Medical Centre will substantially increase.
In 1997-98, the Department will continue to pay all public hospitals the variable rate for all DVA patients above target. To achieve this the number of veterans treated within the hospitals base target have been identified from historical VIMD data, and any additional DVA patients will not be counted towards targets, but will be separately identified and funded at the variable rate.
