The Acute Health Division allocates over $3.6 billion in funding for Victoria's Acute Health system.
In 2000-2001, the total operating Budget has increased by $242 million over the 1999-2000 budget. This comprises an additional $176 million from new policy initiatives including $34 million for the Winter Emergency Demand Strategy and $44 million in growth, which will enable the re-opening of 360 beds across the system to reduce emergency pressure, enable patients on the waiting list to be treated, and to meet the ongoing increase in demand for services associated with population growth, ageing and the increased use of new technology.
