YACVic and CMY

The Youth Affairs Council of Victoria (YACVic) is the peak youth affairs organisation in Victoria. The Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) is the lead community agency in Victoria working with multicultural young people.

The two organisations provide support to young people to develop their capabilities so they can provide advice to the Victorian Government on issues of importance to them. They also work with community organisations that support young people's participation and engagement in decision making.

The Youth Affairs Council of Victoria provides the means by which a range of stakeholders in the youth sector can provide policy advice on issues for young people and the sector to the Victorian Government. It also provides support for the Victorian Indigenous Youth Advisory Council (VIYAC), the Youth Disability Advocacy Service (YDAS) and the Victorian Student Representative Council (VicSRC).

The Centre for Multicultural Youth provides the Victorian Government and the wider community with research and policy advice on issues affecting young people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, including young people from refugee backgrounds. The centre also plays an important role in assisting multicultural youth and their familes to build connections with their communities, be able to navigate education and employment pathways, and develop leadership skills.
