Multicultural Strategy
The Victorian community is characterised by a rich variety of languages, customs and cultures that make up its diverse cultural mosaic.
The Victorian Government is committed to ensuring all Victorians are provided with the opportunity to participate fully as members of the community. The Department of Human Services assists Victorians - including those who are from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, or who have a low level of English proficiency – who are experiencing issues in the following areas:
- Children, Youth and Families, including child protection, family violence, young people aged 10-20 years in contact with the justice system, and parents who require advice and guidance on looking after children;
- Disability Services, including supports for carers of people with disabilities and services that promote independent living; and
- Housing and Community Building, including housing and accommodation needs.
