Human resources and employment in Eastern Metropolitan Region

Employees in the Department of Human Services are governed by conditions of employment contained in the Public Administration Act 2004 and either the Victorian Public Service Agreement 2006 or the HSUA Department of Human Services Agreement 2008. The regional Human Resources Unit provides a range of services to all regional staff and managers on policies and procedures commensurate to these conditions of employment.

Advice and support is offered on people matters such as:

  • recruitment and retention of employees
  • orientation for new starters
  • learning and development for employees
  • working hours and flexible working options
  • job classification, work value reviews and restructure of the workplace
  • performance management systems
  • reasonable adjustment for employees with a disability
  • reassignment of work
  • redeployment for employees
  • employee support programs
  • personal grievances
  • conflict resolution in the workplace
  • discipline issues

All employees are encouraged to contact staff in the Human Resources Unit at times when they are seeking assistance or clarification on the department's policies and procedures relating to the people management matters in their workplace.
