Barwon-South Western Region
The Barwon-South Western Region extends from Lara in the east to the South Australian border in the west. It covers the municipalities of Greater Geelong, Queenscliffe, Surf Coast, Colac-Otway, Corangamite, Moyne, Warrnambool, Southern Grampians and Glenelg.
The region provides Child, Youth and Family, Disability and Housing services to the 357,870 people who live in the region. Close to 60 % of the region live in Geelong, the largest regional city in Victoria. The rest of the population lives in the regional centre of Warrnambool, the larger regional towns of Colac, Hamilton, Portland and Torquay and in the many costal and inland towns and communities.
The region employs approximately 900 staff who are committed to working in an integrated manner to improve the lives of individuals, families and communities in the region. The vast majority of staff provide direct services to clients and are either based in community residential units throughout the region, Colanda Residential Services in Colac or offices in Geelong, Colac, Warrnambool, Portland and Hamilton.
Community service organisations and local government are our key partners in providing services in the Barwon-South Western Region. Almost 60% of the region budget is allocated to agencies for service delivery.
