The department is committed to providing you with the opportunity to put your theory into practice and do meaningful work to improve the lives of Victoria’s most vulnerable.

Tertiary Student Placements

We offer student placements to students studying a relevant tertiary qualification, in the following service units and branches:

  • Client Outcomes and Service Improvement - the branch drives consistent practice and positive client outcomes across all areas within a division. Visit the Client Outcomes and Service Improvement student placements page for more information.
  • Individual and Family Support (Disability Client Services, Youth Justice and Housing Advice and Assistance) - provides a range of departmental services and supports to meet the needs of clients in a holistic and integrated way.   • Residential Client Services (Disability Accommodation Services and Tenancy and Property Team) - provides a range of departmental services and supports to meet the needs of clients in residential settings. Visit the Residential Client Services Unit student placements page for more information.
  • Secure Services - the branch is accountable for the management and oversight of Youth Justice Custodial Services, Secure Welfare Services and Disability Forensic Assessment and Treatment Services. Visit the Secure Services Branch student placements page for more information.
  • Corporate Services - student placements are available in areas such as finance, human resources, legal services and information technology. Placements may also occur in other areas of the department that entail policy, project and research related roles for students studying a relevant qualification. Students are required to have a National Police Check, current to the year of placement.
