Fire Action Week

Fire Action Week will take place from October 11 to October 18. A whole of Victorian Government initiative, the campaign aims to prepare all Victorians for the next bushfire season.

Prepare Act Survive - Fire Ready - CFA www.cfa.vic.gov.au or call 1800240667

The Department of Human Services and Department of Health have been working on a range of activities throughout the week including:

  • public health and mental health advice on a ‘Fire Ready’ insert that will run throughout The Age, Herald Sun, all Leader Group Newspapers and regional newspapers. The insert aims to raise community awareness and prepare Victorians for the approaching bushfire season
  • the distribution of a bushfire preparedness kit to organisations in the health and human services sector in high-risk regions. It will include fact sheets covering emergency management and business continuity planning, preparing mentally for the bushfire season and specific information for residential aged care services, and disability sector organisations
  • a range of bushfire related factsheets to help those in bushfire areas prepare mentally for the upcoming bushfire season.

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is the lead fire agency for the campaign so be sure to visit their website and keep an eye out for further articles throughout the week or you can call them on 1800 240 667.
