Strategic framework for sport and recreation- Sport and Recreation Victoria

Sport and Recreation Victoria is developing a strategic framework for sport and recreation with the aim of strengthening the system and detailing how the broader economic, health and community benefits can be maximised. A discussion paper and background information are now available and responses are now being sought. If you work in transport, health, disability, children/family services, education, this is relevant to you.

Emergency Services Volunteer Sustainability Grants Program- Emergency Management Victoria

The Emergency Services Volunteer Sustainability Grants Program has been established to ensure emergency management volunteers can continue to deliver their crucial work. Grants are available for:

  • Operational equipment
  • vehicles
  • facility improvements and maintenance
  • training and development
  • community engagement and education
  • other miscellaneous requirements that volunteers believe they need to assist and enhance services to the community.

Emergency management organisations identified in the Emergency Management Manual Victoria are eligible to apply, including:

  • Country Fire Authority
  • Victoria State Emergency Service
  • Marine Search and Rescue providers
  • Life Saving Victoria

Tick of Charity Registration- Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission

The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) new 'Registered Charity Tick' aims to gives reassurance to the public that the charity is transparent and accountable by highlighting its presence on the ACNC Charity Register.

The aim is that the Registered Charity Tick will have a positive effect on public trust and confidence in the charity sector and members of the public are encouraged to check the register to find out more details about charities they wish to support.

The Registered Charity Tick can be used by registered charities on printed and digital media.

Victorian Community Comms Alliance catch up- Victorian Council of Social Services

If you are a comms professional working in the Victorian community sector you are invited to come along and meet your peers. This meeting will be part 'getting to know you' and part planning for the Victorian Community Comms Alliance training and engagement events for 2017.

Free training programs for job seekers- Crown (Casino) College

Crown College is running the following courses free of charge as part of the 500 Places Program:

  • Certificate II in Security Operations
  • Certificate III in Hospitality

These courses are funded by Crown College. They have had 45 people complete the courses so far with 11 of these people then securing employment within Crown Casino and 31 people becoming employed in the hospitality and/or tourism industry. If you work with:

  • Retrenched workers
  • women in crisis
  • new immigrants
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders

Sports and Recreation Governance Scholarship- Institute of Community Directors Australia and Sport without Borders

Sports Without Borders, is offering fifty $1000 scholarships towards Diploma of Business (Governance) enrolments. The Diploma of Business (Governance) BSB50715 is Australia's only accredited qualification for not-for-profit governance.

Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of merit and the likely impact for the sporting organisations served by each recipient.
