We need your help – recruiting young people for leaving care study

Beyond 18 study
12 September 2014

Beyond 18 studyBeyond 18 is an exciting and important new research project that seeks to improve the experience of young people transitioning from care.

The Australian Institute of Family Studies has been commissioned by the Victorian Government to run the project and is currently recruiting young people to participate in the study. If you know someone who was born between 1 July 1996 and 30 June 1997, and has spent time living in out-of-home care, we need your help.

The project aims to find out what life has been like for young people while they have been in care, what’s happening as they transition out of care, and what life is like after their official care orders have finished. The results will help the Victorian Government make positive changes for the future.

Please encourage anyone you know who fits the eligibility criteria to get involved by contacting the Beyond 18 team on 1800 352 275 or by email at info@beyond18.com.au. Participation will involve a couple of hours of time each year for three years, to speak with a researcher and complete a survey.

By taking part, they can make a real difference to the out-of-home care system in Victoria. And they’ll also receive a gift card worth $50 at the end of each survey.
