Eleven new members have been appointed to the Victorian Government’s main advisory body representing people with a disability, the Victorian Disability Advisory Council.

The council provides advice to the Minister for Housing, Disability and Ageing Martin Foley to influence systemic change for people with a disability. It has been set up at an important time for people with a disability during development of the Victorian state disability plan 2017 - 2020 and transition to the NDIS.

The Minister attended the council’s first meeting on 10 August to personally congratulate the new members, and thank outgoing Chair, Tony Staley, for his leadership over the past five years. The Minister also announced that Colleen Furlanetto will act as Chair until a new Chair is appointed.

The new council is made up of people with a disability and carers with a broad range of experience, skills and qualifications who collectively will bring a vital perspective to guide Victoria through this period of significant change and opportunity.
