Springboard - Intensive Education and Employment Support for Young People Leaving Care
On 2 February 2012, the Minister for Community Services announced funding over four years for a new Springboard specialist outreach and intensive one-on-one support program to help young people who are transitioning from, or have left residential out-of-home care to participate in education, training and employment.
The Springboard program is part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to improve life outcomes for young people leaving residential out-of-home care. It will assist highly disadvantaged young people between 16 and 21 years of age to gain secure, long-term employment by re-engaging with appropriate education, training or supported employment opportunities.
Springboard will form part of the suite of services available to young people in residential out-of-home care, and those support services for young people who have left.
Invited submissions have been sought from organisations who currently provide the Commonwealth funded Youth Connections program in Victoria to deliver this new initiative in Department of Human Services regions. The closing date for submissions is Friday 2 March 2012.
Springboard will commence in April 2012.
